Main Stope Gallery first opened in 1995 with a group of thirteen artists from Butte and surrounding southwest Montana. Our purpose is to showcase original artwork, including oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel painting, mixed media, hand made pottery, sculpture, wood-turned art, hand crafted jewelry, photography, and other media. The gallery was originally located at 126 South Main in Butte. Two years later it moved to its present location so that invitational and guest shows might be accommodated in addition to members’ work. We are located in the Thomas Block (built in1913) of historic Uptown Butte, at 45 W.Park St. In addition to monthly openings, Main Stope Gallery participates in the Butte Art Walk from May through September. With 1203 square feet of gallery space, Main Stope Gallery is the premier art gallery in Butte, Montana. We hope you will stop in on your next visit to Butte America. |
